...turning over the next leaf...

Welp, bebe D could come at any moment (I am hoping for a moment sooner than later), and in honor of his or her arrival I have put together a little slideshow to celebrate our journey with the sprout-cum-squirmer and all the adventures we have shared even before he or she joined us on the outside!

I am hoping that this will reignite my blogging but I make no promises ;)

...The Ultimate DIY Experience...

I have a question for you...

Sean+Lucy= xx or xy??

That's right, we have embarked on our own ultimate DIY experience.  We have remodeled, redecorated and redesigned our home in Atlanta for the last two years and now we are reproducing.  Yikes.

Dia de los Muertos

The Dia de los Muertos Project-

El Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) is a celebration to remember and honor the departed. It's celebrated Nov. 1-2 with family altars, parades, special foods like skull-shaped bread and candy - and increasingly, costumes and face paint that gleefully mock death.
Day of the Dead imagery is at once dark and beautiful.
In this project, I'll turn ordinary crowd-sourced snapshots into colorful Day of the Dead portraits. The project, if funded, will launch on Day of the Dead and conclude one year later on Nov. 1, 2012.
               From Rachael Rossmanhttp://www.rachaelrossman.com/

I just became a backer so that Sean and I can partake in this project.  We were both sold after seeing her portrait of The Blogess:

I need your help to decide which picture to send her to paint...

UPDATE:  Well I have been a lazy enough blogger in the past... what almost 6 months... that this is sorrowfully out of date.  If Rachel Rossman weren't so on the ball I may have been able to sneak my own laziness by you but as promised she began painting the portraits in earnest when the new year began and guess what... we were the first portrait she did!  We thought we were going to have to wait until October or November to finally get a peek at our portrait but I received an e-mail on January 1st that ours was the first of the new year (I am choosing to believe it was because when she saw a picture of us she couldn't resist our blinding beauty...hmmm...).   Without further delay (drummmmmmmrooooolllllllll):

That came from this:

What do you think??

...meet my lover Warby Parker...

** Forewarning, the following pictures are super cheesy and for some reason not of the highest quality; it is worth it I promise.

While watching the most celebrated TV show (in the Delaney household), CBS Sunday Morning, Sean and I were introduced to the company Warby Parker.  It is the brainchild of four (clearly awesome and painfully hip) friends who wanted to find a way to my cool eye-wear at a reasonable price.

By the way did you hear about the hipster that burned his tongue?

He ate his pizza before it was cool...

They also have a little Toms thing going called Eyewear with a purpose:

We believe that everyone has the right to see. Unfortunately, millions of people around the world today don’t have access to proper vision care. To help address this problem, Warby Parker partners with renowned non-profits, such as VisionSpring, to deliver one pair of glasses to someone in need for every pair that we sell. In doing so, we enable you to share the gift of vision with someone who can’t see today and give them the opportunity to read, to work and to live a fuller life.
We immediatly became energized by the idea of getting new glasses from them and toiled over the web-site for a while.  They had a 'virtual try-on,' where you can upload a picture of yourself and see how the glasses will look on your face but this was not enough to help me pull the trigger.  I waited a few months and checked back to see they now have a 'home try-on' program; 5 pairs, 5 days, totally free!

I was sold.  Interestingly Sean ordered two pairs the same day as I ordered my free try-on frames (great minds).  More interestingly he ordered the exact frames I currently have so that limited what I felt like I should get, I am not sure how into matching eye wear I am.  I ordered my five favorite frames and spend so time in each before I picked the winner.  Which ones would you have picked?

From top to bottom I ordered:

Huxley

Roosevelt

Wiloughby (these are the original ones I wanted, and the ones Sean got for himself)

Zagg

and finally, Pierce

So anyway, the experience and customer service have been fantastic and I just sent back my trial today.  It was very easy, it came with another packing label and was in a sturdy box so I just affixed the label and dropped it at a UPS store.  I am about to put my order in, can you guess which ones I am going with??

...i love blogs and coffee part deux...

...but this time it is more along the line of coffee mugs this time...

Sean and I have a relative random assortment of coffee mugs and have recently decided to seek out some new, large, beeeeautiful mugs.

Here are some thoughts...

Iittala, which happens to be my front runner I think...

Iittala

Mikaela Dörfel from All Modern

ferm LIVING Apple and Pine Thermo Mugs from All Modern

Jonathan Adler Utopia Devil / Angel Mug

Jonathan Adler Utopia Devil / Angel Mug from All Modern, I really love Jonathan Adler, this is no exception...

notNeutral Brown Season Cup and Saucer Set

notNeutral Brown Season Cup and Saucer Set from All Modern, although this is pretty rad...

White Stacking Mug from World Market, keepin' it simple is soooo typical for us- I want a little sparkle.

Utopian bog/ girl mug by Jonathan Adler, if these were two separate cups I would totally be into it but there is one face on either side of the mug- that just might be a little busy...

I know, I know life is hard having all these important things like picking out mugs to do on a rainy labor day weekend. It would be so typical of us to go for the blank canvas but I really am thinking more along the lines of either the first mug or the entire set of mid-mod goodness!

It is important to think these things through, after all something you put to your lips each day need be special, no?
