wall art...

Another great thing about our little casa is that we have lots of large beautiful walls.  For the most part they are still bare, both intentionally and because we don't have much large beautiful artwork to put on them.  Sean and I both feel strongly about not cluttering the walls with lots of small pictures, but large pieces are pricey and being that we just bought our first house and I am still relatively unemployed (argh) that isn't happening for a while.

Not to be limited by this we have been trying to think of ways to adorn the walls without breaking the bank... our first project was this beauty...

This is our ever-changing, installation, masterpiece chalk board... which was super easy to make, and we love it.  The plan is to have everyone that comes over add a portion and see what we end up with, wanna come visit now??

This is the wall that was in question, it was kind of a funny little corner.  We thought about just painting the wall into a chalkboard but we were not sure how it would paint over in the future, and we wanted it it to be more of an experience.

We bought a large piece of plywood, you could get whatever size you please, we wanted it to fill the wall.  I then put two coats of primer on it, and sat there for about an hour while it dried picking off the stray insects that got stuck in the wet paint, fun.  Sean the drilled the holes for the bolts.

He's a hard worker that Sean, here admiring his handiwork...

...and here I am again painting multiple (four, five maybe??) coats of the chalkboard paint and again, picking all those poor gnats off the paint because while it is our installation piece, desiccated gnats were not the look we were going for.

Attach that thang to the wall... touch up some spots that got scratched and voila.

Now I want to get this  chair to put the jar of chalk on.... and use when we have stylish people over!

The is the Diamond lounge chair by Harry Bertoia for Knoll, it carries a hefty price tag... however, Advance Interior Design does carry a nice (much less expensive) reproduction of this and many other classic modern pieces.
