the secret garden...

Well crap... I totally forgot about the blogging this for a couple weeks... anyway, spring is-a-coming here in Atlanta and Sean and I are starting the task of dusting off, cutting back and replanting our little garden. These pictures are from last year and I will update when we finish this year, but our patio garden is 100% what sold us when buying our townhouse. It is big and spacious with a large magnolia shading half of it and a professional landscaping job that the people who lived here before us footed the bill for. We mostly just try to tend to it and have made some small changes like planting three gardenia bushes (my dad's favorite), some dwarf mondo glass between pavers (which is the most sturdy plant I have ever met), some flowers here and there and my beloved pot garden (not the kind you may be thinking of). The pot garden always starts off looking like the photo above but by the end of our long summers looks overgrown and wild which I love. Sean and I have a similar theory of gardening which works out for us in that we never blame the other person for the death of our plants. It is survival of the fittest at casa Delaney, and once planted if the greenery can't survive mostly on its own merits and the natural rainfall there is a good chance it wasn't meant to be in our garden to begin with. So anyway, happy spring; enjoy growth, new beginnings, and a fresh start, and I hope it rains on you all enough to keep you thriving just like our little garden :)

Our gardenia that always reminds me of both my dad and my sister-in-law who wore a gardenia in here hair for her wedding.

...alliance theatre for the very young...

 

Thanks to my friend Lettie and Norah's friend (Lettie's son) Jackson we found this Atlanta toddler treasure: The Alliance Theatre for the Very Young. Norah was one of the younger kids there but was mesmerized the entire 45 minute show.

 When we arrived this (very tall) man was snoozing in bed and all the children were given pillows to go sit down with. There was a cute little intro where a (very small) woman peeked out over the covers and then she and a fairy ballerina worked to wake the giant man up. He spoke English and the small woman spoke a combined language of gibberish and Japanese; this seemed to equalize the language barrier with the no so verbal toddlers. 

The show was filled with dance, bubbles, song, music, grown interaction, and whimsical props. I had a smile on the entire time and so did Norah and the other kids. It was so worth the time and ticket price and I would highly recommend it to Atlanta families with little ones- thanks Lettie and Jackson!

...Hello Lover...

Good news!  My lovely little computer is back in business.  It isn't quite the same, we are still getting to know each other.  So expect to see me around the neighborhood a little more often...

Here is a quick catch up, and more to come about the holidays and some tasty food!

One exciting thing is we got a new dining room table, and we have put it to good use.  We found a great simple table at CB2 and the chairs are from Overstock.com, a screaming deal.

We have put a rug down, which I will share later, but I just wanted to share how adult I feel with a table that fits more than just Sean and I!

This is a terrible picture but it gives the feeling of Atlanta at the moment.  Think ice, ice, ice.  These are some neighborhood kids sledding down the sidewalk in a laundry basket.  

Today is the first time I have left the house in three full days, as there was a full on 'state of emergency' declared here due to three inches of snow!  It was crazy, but fun.  Since I felt confident driving the honda today I ventured out to get my computer fixed and found that it was totally fine, apparently some roads are still dodgy but we are definitely on the mend.

Atlanta Kirtan-tastic!

I am so excited. After another great yoga class with Todd at Peachtree Yoga I asked about the Kirtan scene here in Atlanta, I had googled it but not found much. He told me about Kirtan at Vista Yoga this weekend! The above picture is my Yoga Teacher Training pre-Kirtan moment in the sun. Kirtan is a call and response chanting that is a devotional practice, I once heard it compared to American Gospel music... in short it kinda rocks! We chanted everyday in my training and I loved it. I would say there was about a 70-30 split in my training class of people that loved Kirtan and those that tolerated it the way I tried to tolerate the 30 minute silent sitting meditation at 6 am (with lots of frustration and a feeling of spiritual impotence). I even got Sean to come with me to Kirtan at the Samarya Center in Seattle once and he actually did really well and sat through the entire night with the lovely Stephanie leading the chant on guitar.

In short, I am psyched to go to this Kirtan this Saturday, and I will let you know how it went...

On a similar note I may have my first paid yoga teacher gig, which is also super exciting and I will keep ya updated!

New Kicks!

Hey-O!
Thank you so much to Kate from Big Peach Running Co.! I was outfitted with these (expensive) beauties with the assurance that I can, "Take 'em for a couple runs and bring them back if they aren't right." That makes the $130 price tag seem much more worth it. They are the Mizuno Wave Nirvana 6.

So while I have other things to update I am going to take this sunny Atlanta opportunity to take these pups out for a stroll around chastain park. After all I will have lots of time during the Steelers/ Falcons game to update more!
